La dernière semaine de l’école!

Welcome to the last week of school before summer break!

Join me from the classroom at 9:15 Monday morning for our final zoom of the year. Bring your Cahier de réflexion and be ready to share what you enjoyed in grade two, and what you are looking forward to in grade three.

Le langage

Listen to this French song to get you in the mood for summer!

In your Cahier de vocabulaire, write each summer word once on p.36. Then write some sentences with these words. Think about what you would like to do this summer!

This is your final week to read and enjoy your Avatar with Raz-Kids. Enjoy! This summer, remember you can pick up books or get electronic books for our Kamloops public libraries!

Share your animal book with your family.

Listen to Mme Dufour read a story by one of our favourite authors, Robert Munsch.

Les maths

Play a summer-themed math game like canoe puppies and sailboat subtraction.

Do any page you wish in your Cahier rouge and your Cahier de calcul.

La musique

Music Lesson with Mr. Hogeveen.

Hello friends.  This week I read you a story “So-me finds Dough”.  Then I introduce you to a favourite song “I’ve Got Canada in my Pocket”.

I had some technology challenges and the lyrics didn’t show up on the video at 7:14.  The next video shows up again at 12:10.  Here is a link that includes the lyrics.

Here is the link to the fun video version of “I’ve Got Canada…”

If you want to play the Melody Matching game we did last week, go to this site.

Once there, open “Match the Melody”, click “next” and then choose level 3.  Once that is open you can choose 3a, 3b, or 3c.  Feel free to browse the Music Play site for all the activities available.

Classics For Kids also has fun music activities you can explore.  Find them here.

Have an awesome summer.  I will look forward to seeing you again in September!

~ Mr. H

Extras

Add another page to your animal book. Add a page about the author. For example:

J’ai ____ ans.

J’habite à ______.

J’ai __________ dans ma famille.

J’aime _________.

Do pages that you haven’t done yet in your workbooks.

Design a lemonade stand. Make a diagram that shows what it would look like. How much would one lemonade drink cost? How much money would you hope to earn? How many drinks would you have to sell to meet your goal? Draw examples of what coins customers might use to pay for their drinks. You can make a stand for your family in your backyard or your stuffies in your house! Have fun:)

Final words

I am proud of you all for learning so much in grade two. You are incredible readers, writers, artists, scientists, mathematicians and kind friends. I know you will enjoy all the new adventures that grade 3 will bring! Bravo, mes amis!

Parents

Thank-you for being such wonderful parents all year, before and after the surprising Spring that we have had! I am very lucky to have had such a good group of families make up our classroom. Report cards will be available at the school office Thursday afternoon, Friday and next week. Enjoy wrapping up the school year this week at home, and have a fabulous summer!

Join Mme Cauchon at 11am on Zoom for her final storytime of the year.

Les maths

Do p.253 in your Cahier rouge. Be careful, you will add AND subtract! If your answers are correct, use the code to answer the fish’ riddle: What fruit do fish hate? Each answer will have a letter beside it under the word CODE. Put each letter in the correct box to solve the riddle!

Le langage

Get ready for grade 3! We are almost finished our Cahier de vocabulaire. Write each list word on p.33 once, then use the words in sentences below. Remember, if you start a sentence with “je” or “il,” you will need to change the first letter to a capital letter. For example, Je parle au professeur.

Vendredi

Mon but en 3e année est…. (My goal in grade 3 is…)

En 3e année, je veux … (In grade 3, I want) En 3e année, je veux être capable de… (In grade 3, I want to be able to)

On Monday morning, you can share something you liked or something you are proud of about grade 2 with your classmates in zoom!

Le langage

Listen to Mme Harmatuk read Ah! les oiseaux. Then, in your Journal , write about a bird that you like and why. Add a picture and colour it. You might choose a bird from the story, or a different bird you like. If you need to translate a bird name into French, try linguee.com.

Le langage

Today, work on the first page of your animal book (or first sentence in your journal about the animal that you chose last week). Choose an adjective that describes your animal. Remember to see if your animal is masculine or feminine! Examples:

Le requin est dangereux parce qu‘il a les dents pointues.

La baleine est grosse parce qu‘elle est plus grosse que notre voiture.

Look at this page for some adjectives that you might use, and to organize your ideas.

Make sure your sentence begins with a capital letter and finished with a period. Add a picture and colour. If you have time, write more than one page or add details about your animal!

Les maths

Work for 15 minutes in your Cahier de calcul or practice what you have learned about money at thatquiz.org.

Lundi

Le langage

In your Cahier de vocabulaire, write each word on p.31 once. Then use some of the words to write sentences at the bottom of the page.

Les maths

If you have coins at home, can you count them to find out how much money is in a group of coins? Use or imagine a 100 chart to help you. For example example: 25 cents + 10 cents + 5 cents = 40 cents. Start at 25, add 10, then add 5 more. Or, you might like to start with 25, add 5, then add 10 more.

Then do p. 104 in your Cahier rouge. Each item has 2 groups of coins that match the total amount. Draw a line to each correct group of coins.

Mercredi

L’eau

Do you have a favourite wild animal that lives in water? If not, is there a wild animal that you like that needs water? Today we will begin to write a BOOK in French about an animal that you choose!

(If you prefer, you can write a journal entry over several days).

Today, choose your animal. Find out how to spell the animal name in French AND find out if the name is masculine (le/un) or feminine (la/une). Linguee.com is a good on-line dictionary that can help.

Your animal’s name is your title. Write your title in fancy letters on the cover of your book. Then draw and colour a picture for your book cover. Don’t forget to write your name as the author!

For example: Le requin écrit par Mme Harmatuk

Next week, we will write sentences in our book about your animal. If you would like to do any research, you can.

Maths

Watch this video using tens, dizaines, and ones, unités, to help us subtract.

Then do p.247 in your Cahier rouge.

Jeudi

Maths

Review coins. Watch this video about 25 cents.

Do p. 103 in the Cahier rouge. Add other coins to 25 cents to find the total. There used to be pennies in Canada, so they are in this book too!

L’eau

Click on science, week of May 18 on Mme Magalie’s blog.

Learn about where we find water in Kamloops. In your Journal, write about a place where YOU find water in Kamloops and draw a picture.

Vendredi

Langage

Listen to Mme Harmatuk read this story about Pat le chat.

In your Artiste de mots workbook, collect and write French words with the sounds and letters of the week: è, ê, ei. Use French books at home, Raz-Kids or see if there are any in the Pat le chat book that you just listened to!

Maths

Work in your cahier de calculs for 15 minutes.

Extras

Huskies are a breed of dog that often pull sleds on snow in Canada’s north. Draw huskies pulling a sled or draw this cute husky with this video.

Play math games on mathplayground.

Read in French in books at home or in the Raz-Kids reading room.

Write about your learning this week in your Cahier de réflexion.

Can you guess what part of Canada we will be learning about next week?
