June 26

Our year has come to a close with a fabulous trip to Prince Charles Park and our last week of school. This week, students’ learning shone! To see how far students have come in their reading, writing and math concepts makes a teacher proud. Today, children wrote about their summer plans, and shared their reading with classmates. Have your child read his or her writing to you at home   – you will enjoy their work. Students also received certificates for all of their home reading efforts this year. Bravo!

Please note that school finishes tomorrow at 11:45. We will gather in the morning for an end of the year assembly and slideshow, and students will receive their report cards at dismissal. Anyone absent can contact the office after 11:45 to either pick up the report card or organize getting it mailed. In the report card envelope, you will find students’ own reflections on their learning this year as well.

Today’s Assembly

The students did a fabulous job sharing at today’s assembly. Students shared what they learned about nutrition, exercise and mental health. Then, alongside Mme Marko’s students, the class performed a dance choreography, a great example of physical exercise and having fun! Students were courageous and did an excellent job!

Bike to School Week

We had MANY students from our class bike to school this week. Way to go! Many won draw prizes today as well.

Participaction

In class, students have begun tracking how many minutes a day they are active. We will be contributing this data to add to Kamloops’ goal. An email was also sent to school families so that other family members may participate using an App.

Math

Please note that a subtraction worksheet was sent home today. As we have been working on 2-digit minus 2-digit numbers for a long time, this was a summative assessment. Please support your child in correcting any errors.  Then, please sign and return the worksheet. There is more than one way to figure out a subtraction problem, so have your child share what method he or she used to subtract in different situations. Grade three students are also expected to be able to work with 3-digit numbers.

Animal Books

Children took their animal books home yesterday after sharing them with students in our class and in Mme Dufour’s class. Students did a great job learning how to research and express ideas in their own words. Our focus was on adjectives.

Prince Charles Park

We will be visiting Prince Charles Park at the end of June for picnic fun with Mme Dufour’s and Mme Kilmartin’s classes. However, please note that we will be changing the date from the one on the June calendar that was sent home. It turns out that another school will make the park quite busy that day! Our trip will likely by Friday, June 21. Once confirmed, the new date will be communicated to parents.

I have noticed some TCC permission slips, June calendars and other items in the front pockets of agendas! Please be sure to remove these from your child’s agenda and keep them at home:)

Happy June!
