Last Week of School!

It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is approaching! It has been a pleasure to teach in our class this year. Here are a few reminders for the end of the year, and some activities coming up!

Prince Charles Park

We are tentatively planning an outing to Prince Charles Park on Tuesday, June 26 from morning recess until the end of the day with the other grade 2 classes. If the weather is poor, this outing will not be rescheduled. Some students have not brought in their permission slips! Permission forms must be returned for students to attend.

Library Books

There will be no more book exchanges at the school library. All books are due! Late fine notices will be distributed if you owe fees.

Home Reading

Students can continue home reading until Wednesday. Please return all books to me before leaving for the summer! If you find any books at home over the summer by accident, PLEASE return them to me next year as these home reading books are precious.

Locker and Desk Clean-out!

We will send some items home today. On Wed., June 27th all student belongings will be sent home. Please send in an extra big bag if you think your child needs one! Otherwise, make sure there is ample room in the backpack! If your child’s last day will be before Wednesday, please let me know so that we can ensure all personal belongings go home.

Last Day- Report Cards

There will be an end-of-the-year assembly on Thursday, June 28th. Another teacher will dismiss the students as I will be at the kindergarten graduation at the end of the morning. Please note that school will finish at 11:55 on the last day, and reports will be distributed at that time. Report cards may not be given out earlier. If you need to pick a report card up after Thursday, you can do so at the office. If you would like it to be mailed, you need to provide the office with a stamped self-addressed envelope.

Final words…

It has has been a pleasure to teach all the children this year. Thank-you so much to all the parents who have helped out in the class and on field trips, and to those who have sent in fun snacks for our classroom celebrations. I will see the students on the first day of school before they are assigned to their classes for the next academic school year. I also look forward to seeing you all at the September back-to-school barbeque! Have a great summer!

National Indigenous Peoples Day

Today across Canada Indigenous People were celebrated and honoured. In our classroom, we had our last visits from Mme Suzette. This month, students made ribbon shirt activities, and made animal puppets to learn about how animals have been important in Aboriginal culture. We thank Mme Suzette for facilitating so much learning with the students. Ask your children about the items that they have brought and will bring home.
