Have a Great Summer!

Grade Two has come to a close! Thank-you for the heartfelt gifts. Flowers, snacks, coffee, gift cards and the children’s beautiful words were MUCH appreciated!

The school office will be open next week for anyone wishing to pick up report cards and other items.

What have we been up to in grade two?

Health

We are learning about healthy eating and exercise. In particular, students are encouraged to:

  • eat fruits and vegetables from all of the colours of the rainbow
  • eat foods that have a variety of textures
  • try new things! last week many students had never tried brussel sprouts or kohlrabi.

You may want to try some new fruits and vegetables in your home to encourage your child to discover new foods!

Math

Our focus has shifted to 3D shapes. Children can name and construct 3D shapes as well as explore their attributes. We also learned a new game called Math-Fact-Oh! to practice addition and subtraction families.

French

We are wrapping up guided reading book work. Children read books at their level in a small group with the teacher. We focus on sounding out words, learning new vocabulary and understanding French grammar structures.

Diversity

Grade 6 students from the rainbow club visited our class to read a story about Stella, a girl with two Dads. Students then coloured people and wrote “Sois Gentil” (Be Kind) to promote being kind to everyone, including those different from one another.

  1. National Indigenous Day will be on Tuesday, June 21.
  2. ALL BOOKS DUE TO THE SCHOOL on Wednesday, June 22.
  3. Home reading will wrap on on June 22.
