Primary Fun Day June 15th!

Dear Parents,

Our Primary “Fun Day” is coming soon. We have planned our “Fun Day” for Friday, June 15 th . In the case of rain, the alternate date will be Monday, June 18 th .

The group activity events will take place outside from 9:00 until 12:15. The children will rotate through 12 stations and hopefully have a great time! Please dress your child appropriately for these outdoor activities including hats, sunscreen and runners.

We need parents to run the activity stations. If you are able to join us and help out on that day, please let us know! You can email Mme Marko at mmarko@sd73.bc.ca or Mme Linthorne at mlinthorne@sd73.bc.ca or get in touch with me. We will assign parents to a station and post this information by the office on the morning of the Fun Day. You will not be contacted prior to the event day, please just arrive at 8:45!

Let the June fun begin!

May 25

Hi everyone! We have had a busy month full of activities and have more to come.

Health Education

On Monday, we will be having the first of two Health sessions given by Martha Solomon from Mosaic Sexual Education. She will be a guest presenter in our class for 2 lessons. The focus of the lessons will align with our curriculum and will discuss the following topics:

  • Names for parts of the body, including genitals
  • Appropriate and inappropriate ways of being touched
  • Hazards and potentially unsafe situations
  • Strategies and skills to use in potentially hazardous, unsafe, or abusive situations
  • Factors that influence self-identity

Please follow up with your child if he or she has any questions to bring home.

Scholastic Book Fair

We will preview books for sale in the library on Monday. You may purchase books before school with your child on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Our class will visit the book fair together on Thursday to make purchases as well.

Math

This week, we have been learning about fractions! Next week, students will apply what they have learned during independent work.

French

Students finished reading, studying and writing about novels in small groups. Now we are reading shorter stories and discussing them for fun!

Science

We had a guest presenter from the City of Kamloops who did a presentation about our community’s water. Students brought home activity booklets that hilight some of the messages in the presentation. We will follow up on what we learned next week.

Swimming

We will be swimming on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 5th. Make sure your child’s permission form is returned to school by June 1 please. Thank-you!
