March 26

Today children will be bringing home the fairy tales that they wrote to share with you! Please praise our young authors and illustrators:) Interim Reports will come home on April 1. (No that’s not a joke LOL). Please look in your child’s agenda for the April calendar with his/her Show and Tell date. I will present some sample Show and Tells about water next week.

Here are some bunny paintings we did this week:

Spring Weather

Please ensure that your child has rain boots at school for muddy weather once Spring sets in. Also, if your child’s outdoor shoes are full of holes, socks get wet and dirty. Feet also grow! Check that your child’s outdoor footwear is appropriate, and we still need indoor shoes for wet days. Hats are welcome with sunny weather, and sunscreen should be applied at home.

Science and Social Studies

We will be studying water including the water cycle and how to protect clean water.

Math

We will be learning about 2D and 3D shapes. We will also continue adding and subtracting to 100.

French

We shared our fairy tales in class and your child can read your fairy tale to you at home! We are building our Spring vocabulary as we talk about buds, planting fruits and vegetables, animals coming out this Spring and Spring weather and clothing. Children will continue to read in small groups in class and are strongly encouraged to continue to participate in reading across Canada through our home reading Program!

April Show & Tell

This month’s Show and Tell theme will be… WATER! in French!

Where does our water come from? Why is water important?

The above are some of the questions that we will be exploring in science during the third term. Students can choose a Show and Tell topic that connects to water. Here are some ideas:

  • A favourite place by the water
  • A favourite animal that depends on water
  • A pet at home that requires water
  • An activity that you like to do in the water
  • A favourite landscape shaped by water
  • A glacier

Remember to prepare for Show and Tell by planning what to say in French! A visual aid such as an object, photo, drawing, poster or book is always an asset. Explain why water is important in the context of your topic.
