June 27

Well, school is almost out! Not before another permission form is due:

Remember to get in your purple permission forms! Sign BOTH sides (scavenger hunt & TTC swim).

Students are organizing their parent volunteers for the scavenger hunt. If you are an adult helping, please be at the school by 9:45 tomorrow! We are swimming in the afternoon, so students should also have swim bags at school.

Our last day of school will be Wednesday. We will have an end-of-the-year assembly at 10:30, and school will be out at 12.

It was a pleasure teaching at Lloyd George this year, and I wish all the students the best next year – some in grade 7, some off to new schools, and many off to high school!!!!!!!!

I have taken a position at David Thompson Elementary for next year, but look forward to crossing paths in the future,

Mme Harmatuk

We have had a fun day today!

We had gym today- some students didn’t have running shoes as it wasn’t a regular gym day. With our daily physical activity philosophy, please ensure students always have runners at school! Thanks.

Eureka Science We had a fabulous chemistry workshop put on by TRU. Students will take home a flyer today that outlines different science camps available. Please see me if you would like to apply for a bursary for your child to attend a program.

Wax Museum Students got to visit a grade 6 wax museum project in the gym; global issues were explored.

PROJECTS DUE NEXT WEEK! Students have two projects due next week that should be finished at home. Students need to bring home their glogster usernames to access their careers posters on-line. Students will present on Monday morning and have been given criteria for evaluation on yellow sheets. Science earthquake projects will be presented on Tuesday afternoon. Students should be prepared that day for anything that they might need to present.

SKSS Orientation Grade 7 students will be invited to an orientation day on Thursday, Sept. 1st at SKSS. We may have a short visit about this orientation day next Thursday morning at school.

Happy June Everyone! Here are some important dates coming up…

Due Dates

We are working on some projects in class. Next week, if students are absent or end up falling behind, they may want to finish up their projects at home next week-end.

Earthquake Project: Due Tuesday, June 14

Careers Glogster Poster due: Monday, June 13th.

Please note that students have criteria for both projects, and will have a few blocks next week to work on projects. Also, we will get started on the careers project on Monday, so students might not yet have a good understanding of what the project is about.

Permission Slips

Keep your eyes peeled soon for a permission form for a trip to the Food Bank on Thursday, June 9th. After that, watch for a form for the Vernon Waterslides June 22nd.

*We will need a parent driver who can drive 3 students to and from the Vernon Waterslides . Please email me if you are interested. Thanks!

Grad

Mark your calendars: Friday, June 24th! A form is being sent home today regarding items needed for the gym, parent helpers needed and pizza order.
